My Story

Currently…

As a Senior at Appalachian State University in the picturesque town of Boone, NC, I find myself immersed in a field that resonates deeply with my values: Sustainable Technology (Major) and Sustainable Development (Minor) With each passing semester, my passion for this discipline grows, fueled by a desire to make a meaningful impact on our planet.

Why Sustainable Technology?

The answer lies in the urgency of our times. Climate change looms large, threatening ecosystems, communities, and future generations. I refuse to be a passive observer—I want to be part of the solution. And so, I’ve chosen a path that aligns with my convictions.

My Academic Journey:

At Appalachian State, I’m pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Sustainable Technology, with a planned graduation date of May 2025. The curriculum has been an eye-opening exploration of energy efficiency, renewable resources, and innovative solutions. Here’s a glimpse of my academic voyage:

  1. Energy Efficiency: I’ve delved into the intricacies of optimizing energy use. From building design to industrial processes, understanding how to minimize waste and maximize efficiency has been enlightening.

  2. Renewable Energy: The promise of clean, inexhaustible energy sources drives me forward. Solar panels, wind turbines, and geothermal systems—they’re not just technologies; they’re our lifelines to a sustainable future.

  3. Systems Thinking: Sustainable technology isn’t isolated; it’s part of a larger ecosystem. I’ve learned to consider the entire life cycle of products, from raw materials to disposal. Circular economy principles guide my thinking.

  4. Policy and Advocacy: It’s not enough to innovate; we must also advocate for change. I’ve explored policy frameworks, international agreements, and grassroots movements—all essential in shaping a greener world.

Beyond the Classroom:

Outside lecture halls, I engage with like-minded peers, attend workshops, and participate in sustainability initiatives.

The Road Ahead:

As I look toward graduation, my vision crystallizes. I see myself working at the intersection of technology and environmental stewardship. Perhaps I’ll design energy-efficient buildings, develop smart grids, or influence policy decisions. Whatever the path, my commitment remains unwavering: to leave a positive mark on our planet.
